On Womyn In Wilderness Adventure-based Yoga Retreats, you have the option to greet each
morning with a sunrise yoga practice,
or to spend some time in meditative reflection as the sun sets each evening.
Gentle hatha yoga sessions
begin by bringing the focus inward to the breath.
Then, basic movements and simple stretches are slowly incorporated into the practice.
Gradually, standing poses and forward bends guide us to a place of invigorating challenge before we slow it all
down with a healthy dose of relaxation and stillness.
Pairing breath (prana) with mindful movements (asana) is proven to increase flexibility and vitality,
and each yoga session on retreat is designed to leave you feeling supple and alive.
Other benefits of yoga include healing the body and mind of many bothersome ailments.
For example, long-time sufferers of anxiety, depression, insomnia, asthma, overweight, and chronic pain have
experienced lasting benefits from participating in a regular yoga practice.

White Water Rafting/Canoeing/Kayaking:
Looking for a high level of adventure? Interested in learning how to paddle a kayak or canoe on moving water? Or would you rather let an experienced guide lead you on Class II-III rapids while winding through epic canyons? Whatever your pleasure, join us for a day of fun, excitement and comeraderie on the wild rivers of the Southwest!
Rock Climbing or Canyoneering:
Add rock climbing or canyoneering to your retreat plans and you are sure to find yourself surrounded by natural beauty as you sweat your way to the top (or bottom) of gorgeous red rocks located throughout the Four Corners region! Womyn In Wilderness partners with certified and professonal rock climbing and canyoneering instructors to ensure a high level of comfort and safety during these challenging and rewarding activities.
Day Hikes and Exciting Side Trips:
Day hikes can range in fitness level from easy to intense. Locations can range from the North Rim of the Grand Canyon to the remote ruins of Cedar Mesa to other amazing National Parks of the Southwest. Side trips are a fun way to get out and play without the added pressure of a carrying loaded backpack. Day trippers can still reap all the benefits of adventurous backcountry exploration, while still returning to their luxury campsite with plenty of time to lounge in a hammock, get absorbed in a good book, or play rowdy party games.
Luxury Camping
Imagine this: You wake up to the birds singing brightly in the warm morning sun. The smell of coffee brewing tickles your senses. You are snuggled in a cozy sleeping bag, still nestled on top of your cushy sleeping pad, with plenty of room in your tent for luggage and lounging. After a homemade meal of breakfast burritos, fresh fruit, and juice, you take a hot, open-air shower while staring across the sweeping southwest landscape. Ahhh....another day in paradise. Later, after a day filled with adventure and excitement, it is time for a relaxing yoga session before dinner. After yoga, maybe you choose to wrap yourself in a soft blanket while cuddling up with a cup of tea or a glass of wine. Or maybe you simply stare aimlessly at the beauty spread out before you...

Backpacking
Backpacking is a fun and challenging way to slow down, get away from it all, and challenge your Self. Trekking with Womyn In Wilderness is the perfect way to learn basic backpacking skills, Leave No Trace outdoor ethics, and how to live comfortably with limited resources while traveling through remote and rugged areas of the stunning Southwest. Our experienced and professonal retreat guides will coach you on what to bring, how to pack your pack, how to stabilize your pack load for comfortable hiking, and how to set up camp efficiently. Other experiential learning will include backcountry cooking and cleaning, as well as tips, tricks, and tools specific to women backpackers.
