Womyn In Wilderness supplies most camping equipment, organic and deliciously prepared food, transportation, permits, and certified, experienced, and professional backcountry and adventure guides.

Most important, WiW emphasizes safety as a top priority and guarantees fun and innovative outdoor travel vacations for women from all walks of life!


The following What To Bring lists are a designed to be a starting point, and are not comprehensive. Detailed planning lists will be provided once a specific itinerary and location are chosen. Equipment rentals are available for a small additional fee.

Backpacking Retreats

  • Expedition backpack (minimum of 2700 cu in)
  • Large durable trash bag or retail pack cover
  • 32 degree lightweight sleeping bag and waterproof stuff sack
  • Sleeping pad
  • Headlamp with extra batteries
  • Camera with extra batteries
  • Waterproof case and/or sacks for electronics, clothing, food, and book/journal items
  • Water bottles or bladder equivalent to 96 ounce fill capacity
  • Hiking Poles
  • Lightweight Book and/or Journal and pens, pencils, paints, etc.
  • Toiletries “ditty” Bag with: several quart size ziplock trash bags, tp, wet wipes, feminine hygiene products, tooth care, and some biodegradable soap for hands and sponge baths
  • Camp or Water Shoes/Outdoor Slippers
  • 3 pairs of synthetic socks
  • Synthetic underwear
  • 2 synthetic tees
  • Lightweight, long-sleeve shirt for sun protection
  • 2 pairs synthetic hiking pants/shorts/skirts
  • Mid-weight Fleece top and bottom
  • Heavy-weight Fleece top and bottom
  • Lightweight Down jacket or vest
  • Rain Gear or Poncho
  • Comfortable (broken-in, if possible) hiking boots or shoes
  • 2-3 Bandanas
  • Sunscreen, sunglasses, and sun hat
  • Insect repellent
